US$1+ Billion Music Media Rights Deal As Warner Bros Cashes In

The partnership with Cutting Edge Group may be one the biggest music rights deals to date as sounds from decades of revered films & TV shows echo all the way to the bank.

Last month, Warner Bros. Discovery (NASDAQ: WBD) finalised a groundbreaking deal for music media rights worth US$1 billion+ with Cutting Edge Group, forming a joint venture (JV) that will co-own and manage WBD’s extensive film and TV music catalogue. The deal follows an industry trend among the Media Majors seeking to trade liquidity today against long-term royalty revenues from their massive IP libraries in the face of evolving media disruption and shifting revenue models.
